SPICED CHICKPEAS
SIMPLE SAVOURY SNACK
I often get asked for simple savoury snack recipes and have found these to be incredibly popular with clients. They can be eaten on their own or added to salads, soups, stews etc. for extra crunch and flavour. I love making them with smoked paprika, za’atar or cumin & turmeric but they also taste fab with a little honey/maple syrup, cinnamon or allspice. Feel free to mix up your own flavours as well as pulse/bean variety.
INGREDIENTS:
1 can chickpeas (or alternative e.g. butterbean, cannellini bean etc), drained and rinsed
Salt
Extra virgin olive oil
Flavouring: za’atar, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, rosemary, cinnamon, allspice, maple, honey.
METHOD:
Preheat the oven to 200°c (fan).
Add the chickpeas into a roasting tray.
Season with salt, a drizzle of olive oil and your choice of flavourings.
Roast in the oven for 30-40 minutes until golden and crispy.
Eat immediately or leave to cool and store in an airtight container for a few days.
